The Alutech ePelmo X1P brings belt drive and automatic, continuously variable gearing to a new electric mountain bike platform built around Gobao’s combined motor and transmission.
The German brand has opened a limited launch run, with its first 50 Signature Series frames personally welded by managing director Jürgen Schlender. Initial deliveries are planned for late March to early April 2027.
Alutech ePelmo X1P: a different drivetrain
According to Alutech’s launch details, the frame is a fresh design built around the X1P system. Its integrated belt tensioner is one of the defining features, while a duct in the left motor cover is intended to aid cooling.

The transmission varies its ratio automatically rather than stepping through a conventional cassette. Riders can also choose manual control. That makes this a particularly interesting launch for anyone curious about how an eMTB could feel without the usual gear changes.
For British riders, the obvious question is ownership through a wet winter. Removing a conventional chain-and-cassette drivetrain changes the maintenance picture, but we would still want to know service intervals, parts support and running costs. Our eMTB drivetrain wear guide explains why that matters.
Fast-charging claim and enduro build
Alutech claims a 10–80 per cent recharge in 20 minutes using its 30A, 1,500W charging setup. That is a stated charging window, not a full charge from empty, and Electric MTB UK has not independently tested it.
The Enduro 29 Launch Edition listing specifies a 170mm RockShox Zeb Ultimate fork and Vivid Coil Ultimate shock. Complete-bike weight is claimed to start at 23kg, so buyers should check the figure for their chosen size and configuration.

A 29in build, an MX option and a frameset are listed. The drivetrain concept deserves attention alongside the systems covered in our eMTB motor guide, but specifications alone cannot establish climbing feel or reliability.
Launch offer and delivery
Alutech says its early-bird offer runs until 15 October 2026. The detailed launch information places first deliveries in spring 2027, so this is a preorder story rather than a bike ready for tomorrow’s ride.

A confirmed UK retail package and landed price were not established. We would want those details, together with local service arrangements, before making a buying recommendation.
