About the riding
Alwen Reservoir is a blue-grade, shared-use cross-country ride rather than a technical bike park. The main loop links forest roads with purpose-built singletrack around the water, with mostly moderate gradients, a few short steep sections and small root or rock obstacles. Longer options connect with Llyn Brenig for bigger mileage across exposed moorland. Cyclists follow the route anti-clockwise and must give way to walkers and horses. Charged parking is at Alwen; the nearby Llyn Brenig visitor centre provides toilets and refreshments.
