About the riding
Hicks Lodge is aimed mainly at novice and intermediate riders. The easy Wood Farm route and Pedal and Play area build basic off-road confidence, while the blue Shell Brook Trail introduces narrower trail, moderate climbs, rollers and small technical features. It is not a gravity bike park, but it is a friendly place for families, newer mountain bikers and mixed-ability groups to develop skills. The compact visitor hub has paid parking, toilets, a café, cycle hire and a bike shop, so it is easy to organise a relaxed half-day or family ride.
