About the riding

Newcastleton is a quieter 7stanes destination with two main cross-country loops. The blue route is a gentle introduction with forest paths, manageable climbs and fun descents. The red route is longer and faster, using narrow singletrack, technical features and more demanding climbs. Forestry damage can produce lengthy diversions, so check the official trail status before travelling. The route starts in Douglas Square in Newcastleton village, where parking is free and public toilets, showers, cafés and shops are nearby rather than concentrated in a purpose-built trail-centre building.
