Wendover Woods (Chilterns)

Wendover Woods is one of the most straightforward “turn up and ride” eMTB options in Buckinghamshire, thanks to waymarked cycling routes, solid visitor facilities and predictable access. The riding here leans more towards forest-trail riding than gravity bike-park intensity: you’ll typically link purpose-built trail segments with wider forest roads, building loops that suit your time and ability.

For eMTB riders, Wendover Woods is especially good for progression because it allows you to repeat climbs and descents without the fatigue penalty, and because the site is set up for general visitors you’re not forced into committing, remote terrain. On busy days you’ll see plenty of families and walkers, so the best experience comes from riding early or choosing quieter times. In wet spells, shaded sections can hold moisture and become slick, but surfaces are generally more predictable than raw bridleway networks.
