The new Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 brings Avinox M2S power to Canyon’s trail eMTB range, with a 700Wh battery, a redesigned carbon frame and a UK price of £6,699. Canyon quotes maximum outputs of 150Nm and 1,500W, but the change goes further than fitting a stronger motor: the fourth-generation Spectral:ON also gets new geometry, size-specific chainstays and a choice of rear-wheel formats.
There is an important distinction behind the weight headline. Canyon’s claimed 20.8kg applies to the forthcoming Spectral:ON LTD, not the CF 9 announced today. The CF 9’s complete-bike weight is not stated in the launch release, so that figure should not be used to judge the £6,699 model.
Avinox M2S motor and 700Wh battery
The CF 9 pairs the Avinox M2S drive unit with the FP700 battery. Canyon says this 700Wh pack enables the system’s 1,500W peak output and helps it keep the frame slim. Those headline power and torque figures are maximum claims, rather than a promise of the assistance a rider will receive throughout a climb.

For UK trail riding, the more useful question is how controllably that assistance reaches the rear tyre. Plenty of torque can help on steep pitches, but wet roots and loose ground still demand grip and careful power delivery. Canyon describes the new bike as natural-feeling and quiet; those remain manufacturer claims until we have ridden it.
A 700Wh capacity also cannot tell you how many miles a ride will cover. Assistance level, rider weight, climbing, tyres and temperature all affect range. Our Avinox M2S motor launch report explains the wider system behind Canyon’s new bike.
A new carbon frame, with geometry changes to match
Canyon quotes a 2.9kg weight for the full-carbon chassis and says it meets its Category 4e enduro-level strength and impact-testing requirements. The company has also tuned the front triangle for steering stiffness while allowing more compliance in the rear stays to help absorb trail chatter.
A 64-degree head angle and 78.5-degree seat angle signal the intended balance: stability on steep descents, with a more upright seated position for climbing. Small and medium frames have shorter chainstays than large and extra-large frames. Varying the rear-end length with frame size is intended to give different-sized riders a better-balanced position between the wheels.

The standard setup combines a 29in front wheel with a smaller 27.5in rear, often called a mullet setup. Riders can also use a 29in rear wheel with the frame’s flip-chip adjustment. Canyon has revised the suspension leverage curve and increased anti-squat and anti-rise: changes intended to influence how the suspension behaves under pedalling and braking. It claims better support through the middle of the travel and a more settled feel under hard braking.
Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 specification and price
The £6,699 CF 9 build includes a Fox 36 Factory fork and Float X Factory shock, SRAM X0 AXS drivetrain with a power meter, SRAM Maven brakes and DT Swiss HXC1700 wheels. These are premium components, although setup and the way the complete bike handles will matter more than the individual badges.
One practical detail is fully guided brake-hose routing. Canyon says a replacement hose can be pushed through the head-tube port and out through the chainstay without removing the motor or battery. That could make an otherwise awkward workshop job considerably easier.

When can you buy the new Spectral:ON?
The CF 9 is the first of four new Spectral:ON CF models. Canyon plans to reveal the other three between November 2026 and January 2027, with pre-orders opening in most regions on 4 December 2026 and deliveries starting on 19 January 2027. The launch therefore does not mean bikes are ready for immediate delivery.
The appeal is clear: substantial motor output in a platform designed to retain the agility of a lighter trail bike. The unanswered questions are the CF 9’s actual weight and how that power, suspension and handling work together on muddy British trails. For the wider buying picture, see our guide to Avinox eMTBs.
