MET has announced the Parachute MCR 2, a convertible full-face helmet for trail, enduro and eMTB riding. The new model has a £330 UK recommended price, with UK stock expected in November 2026.
The announcement was released on 12 October. It is a new generation of the Parachute MCR, rather than a new colour of the existing helmet, so discounted first-generation models are not the same product.
A removable chinbar for mixed riding
The MCR magnetic release lets riders remove the chinbar for climbing or less demanding trails, then refit it for descents. MET lists a claimed 730g weight in size medium, 24 vents and Mips Air Node Pro. Its claimed ventilation improvement is 25% over the previous generation; that is a manufacturer comparison, not an Electric MTB UK test result.

MET lists NTA 8776 certification alongside ASTM chin-guard certification. These are useful specification details, but a list of standards does not predict the outcome of an individual crash. The helmet still needs to fit securely and be worn with the chinbar correctly installed whenever that protection is required.
What matters for UK trail riders
A convertible design makes most sense when a ride combines long climbs with descents where you want a full-face helmet. Before buying, think about where the removed chinbar will go, whether you can operate the release confidently with gloves, and whether the complete helmet fits comfortably with your usual eyewear.
It is a different proposition from a 3/4 helmet with extra side coverage. Our Troy Lee Designs Stage Stunt review explains that middle ground; its open chin area should not be confused with a full-face chinbar.
For riders who already know they want a chinbar throughout the ride, compare the MET with the fixed and convertible options in our full-face MTB helmet guide. Removing one part is only a benefit if it suits how you actually ride.

Price, sizes and availability
The UK launch information gives a £330 recommended price and sizes S (52–56cm), M (56–58cm) and L (58–61cm). November is the expected stock month, not a promise that every colour and size will be available at every retailer.
We have not trail-tested the Parachute MCR 2. Fit, ventilation in wet UK conditions and the practicality of carrying the chinbar remain questions for a proper review.
