Peaty’s Monarch Grips

Peaty’s Monarch Grips now include colour matched lockrings as standard

Peaty’s has updated its Monarch Grips to ship with colour-matched lockrings as standard, replacing the previous black single-sided lockring. It is a small spec tweak, but it’s the kind of finishing detail riders notice immediately, particularly if you have built your eMTB cockpit around colour-coordinated components and matching accents.

The Monarch range itself remains the same, and you can still choose between two distinct feels depending on how you ride. There’s the more direct Knurl option for a firmer, more “race control” grip, and the softer Mushroom option for “trail comfort”. The point of this update is that the grips now look complete out of the box, without the need to purchase additional parts afterwards. If you want to see the full range, start with Peaty’s Monarch Grips.

What’s changed

Until now, Monarch Grips were supplied with a black lockring. Peaty’s says it noticed riders were buying Monarch Grips and then adding separate colour-matched lockrings to finish the look. The company’s solution is to make the colour-matched lockring the default, so if you buy a coloured grip, the lockring matches it as standard.

From a rider’s point of view, that means one less small upgrade to order, one less packet through the door, and a cockpit that looks “right” straight away. For UK eMTB riding, grips sit right at the centre of comfort and control, particularly in winter when wet gloves, spray and mud make secure contact points more important. If you are refreshing your setup for the slop, it is worth thinking about grips alongside tyres and pedals. Our guide to the best eMTB mud tyres in the UK 2026 is a good place to start if you are chasing more predictable steering and braking in soft ground, while the best MTB pedals 2026 covers flat and clipless options that suit year-round riding.

Grip options, colours, and custom lockrings

Monarch Grips are still available in the same combinations of texture and size. You can choose Knurl or Mushroom textures, and you can choose thick (30 to 32 mm) or thin (28 to 30 mm) diameters. Colour options remain Black, Slate Grey, Mango, Red, Turquoise, and Gum, but they now include matching lockrings as standard. If you want the product details for each texture, you can jump straight to Peaty’s Monarch Grips – Knurl or Peaty’s Monarch Grips – Mushroom.

If you still prefer to personalise your cockpit further, lockrings are still sold separately in 12 colours, so you can mix, match, contrast, or deliberately clash depending on your build. Those are listed on Peaty’s Monarch Grips – Lockrings.
