The best full-power eMTB 2026 models are built for riders who want strong climbing assistance, proper battery capacity and a chassis capable of handling repeated descents on real mountain bike terrain.

Full-power electric mountain bikes sit at the more muscular end of the eMTB market. Most use motors producing at least 85Nm of torque, combined with batteries ranging from around 630Wh to 840Wh. That means more support on steep technical climbs, more scope for repeated trail-centre laps and less need to ration assistance throughout a long ride.

That extra performance normally comes with additional weight. Many full-power eMTBs weigh between 23kg and 27kg, although newer systems such as DJI Avinox have begun to blur the line between traditional full-power bikes and the best lightweight eMTBs.

A low bike weight does not automatically make an eMTB low-powered. The Amflow PL Carbon Pro included here weighs close to 20kg but still delivers more motor torque than many heavier competitors. For this guide, full power is determined primarily by the motor system and intended use, rather than the complete bike weight alone.

What is a full-power eMTB?

“Full power” is an industry description rather than a legal classification. It generally refers to an electric mountain bike using a high-torque motor designed to provide substantial support on steep climbs and technical terrain.

Current full-power systems include:

  • Bosch Performance Line CX
  • Shimano EP801 and EP6
  • Specialized 3.1
  • DJI Avinox M1
  • Yamaha SyncDrive Pro
  • Brose Drive S Mag
  • Pinion MGU

These systems typically offer between 85Nm and 120Nm of maximum torque, although headline figures should not be used in isolation. Motor response, cadence behaviour, traction control, software tuning, noise and dealer support all affect how a bike feels on the trail.

A UK-legal full-power eMTB still needs to comply with Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle rules. The motor must have a continuous rated output no higher than 250W, assistance must cut out at 15.5mph, and the bike must use pedals capable of propelling it.

Peak torque and temporary peak power figures do not automatically make a bike illegal. Derestricting the assistance speed or using a non-compliant throttle changes its legal status and should not be confused with buying a normal UK-market full-power eMTB.

How we selected the best full-power eMTBs

The best full-power eMTB 2026 shortlist was not created by ranking motors according to torque alone.

For £3,279, it combines a full-carbon frame, Shimano EP6 motor and removable 800Wh battery. That is a remarkable starting point when many similarly priced bikes use aluminium frames, smaller batteries or both.

The EP6 motor produces the same 85Nm headline torque as Shimano’s more expensive EP801. It does not feel as sharp or polished as the latest high-output Bosch, Specialized or Avinox systems, but it supplies enough assistance for steep climbs and long trail days.

During testing, the EP6 felt entirely adequate for the bike’s intended use. It lacked some of the punch available from the most powerful motors, but it was smooth and predictable rather than weak.

The Spectral uses a 29in front and 27.5in rear wheel, helping the bike remain manageable despite its 24.32kg quoted weight and large battery. There is 160mm of RockShox Lyrik travel at the front and 155mm at the rear through a Deluxe Select shock.

The frame is the standout component. It feels strong, composed and far more expensive than the complete bike price suggests. The more obvious compromises appear in the suspension tune and braking feel. The Deore M6120 brakes are four-piston units, but they can feel muted before delivering a firmer bite. The Lyrik and Deluxe combination also lacks some of the responsiveness found on more expensive builds.

Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tyres are a welcome choice for UK trails, giving the Canyon substantially more grip than many bikes supplied with lightweight all-round tyres.

The Spectral CF 7 is the best full-power eMTB 2026 choice for riders who want maximum frame, battery and motor value and are willing to accept that some components may eventually deserve upgrading.

Its Shimano EP801 motor produces 85Nm and is paired with a removable 630Wh Shimano battery. That battery is smaller than the 800Wh units on the Cube, Canyon and Amflow, but it helps keep the complete bike around 24.6kg and should be sufficient for most ordinary trail-centre rides.

The most distinctive part of the build is the Shimano CUES LinkGlide Di2 drivetrain. It provides electronic 11-speed shifting and supports Auto Shift and Free Shift functions through the Shimano motor system.

Auto Shift can change gear according to cadence and speed, while Free Shift allows the system to move the derailleur without conventional pedalling input. These features will not appeal to every rider, but they make the Rockrider one of the more technologically interesting bikes at this price.

Suspension consists of a 160mm RockShox Domain RC fork and a Deluxe Select shock controlling 150mm of rear travel. The Domain uses broad 38mm stanchions and is suitably stiff for a full-power eMTB, although it carries more weight and offers less damping refinement than premium forks.

TRP Trail Evo brakes are another strong component choice. Four-piston calipers and thick 203mm rotors provide far more confidence than the basic brakes often fitted to value eMTBs.

The weak point is the Rockrider Grip 500 tyre set. The broad 29 x 2.4in profile and tubeless compatibility are useful, but the compound and tread are less convincing on greasy roots and deep mud than the Maxxis combinations used elsewhere in this guide.

Only limited sizes were showing at the checked price, so availability needs to be confirmed before ordering.

The Bosch Performance Line CX motor produces 85Nm in its standard setting, with compatible Gen 5 units able to access higher performance settings through Bosch’s software update. The 800Wh PowerTube battery is large enough for substantial days out, repeated climbs and riders who prefer using stronger assistance modes.

The drivetrain is a sensible Shimano mixture. An XT rear mech is paired with Deore controls and a wide 10–51T cassette. Shimano MT420 four-piston brakes use 203mm rotors at both ends, giving the bike appropriate stopping power rather than asking smaller trail brakes to control a full-power eMTB.

Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance tyres in a broad 2.6in width are versatile on trail-centre surfaces and mixed ground. They roll more easily than a full enduro tyre but will not provide the same clearing or braking grip in deep UK winter mud.

Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor supplies the climbing assistance, with compatible Gen 5 systems capable of reaching up to 120Nm through Bosch’s performance update. An 800Wh removable battery supports repeated climbs and long days without tying the rider to an uplift queue.

The component choices show that Merida understands the bike’s purpose. A Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip front tyre is paired with a Minion DHR II DoubleDown rear, providing high levels of grip and casing support.

SRAM DB4 Stealth four-piston brakes use a huge 220mm front rotor and 200mm rear. They are not the most refined brake system here, but the rotor sizing gives them the heat capacity needed for sustained descents.

The Shimano CUES U6000 ten-speed drivetrain may appear basic beside wireless systems, but it is robust, relatively affordable to replace and offers a useful 11–48T climbing range.

The Merida is not a broad all-rounder. It will feel excessive on flat woodland trails, family loops and mellow blue routes. For riders regularly visiting BikePark Wales, Dyfi, Innerleithen or similarly steep venues, that specialisation is precisely why it belongs here.

The OMR carbon frame is designed around Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor and a 750Wh battery. The checked retailer listing quotes 100Nm for the motor, placing this build above the long-established 85Nm Bosch setting while retaining the support advantages of the Bosch Smart System.

The 750Wh battery is slightly smaller than the 800Wh packs appearing on many 2026 bikes, but it remains enough for substantial riding and helps avoid adding unnecessary mass to an already long-travel bike.

Tyres are exactly what we would want to see on a UK enduro eMTB. A Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip front is paired with a Minion DHR II MaxxTerra DoubleDown rear, providing grip, braking control and stronger casing support than ordinary trail tyres.

The drivetrain combines a Shimano SLX rear mech with a Deore shifter and 10–51T cassette. That is a sensible and durable mixture.

The main component holding the Wild M20 back is the Shimano MT420 brake set. These are reliable four-piston brakes, but they are relatively basic for a carbon 170mm eMTB designed to be ridden hard. A more powerful brake system would better match the bike’s potential.

The Wild is one of the strongest aggressive options in the best full-suspension eMTB category, particularly at its current reduced price.

The Specialized 3.1 motor supplies 105Nm of torque and up to 810W of peak power, backed by an 840Wh battery. Its strongest feature is not simply the output. The system delivers power smoothly in lower modes, responds intelligently in Auto and provides a substantial kick in Turbo.

The MasterMind T3 display and Specialized app allow far more adjustment than many riders will initially need. Assistance, acceleration and response can all be tuned, while Dynamic Micro Tune lets the rider make smaller changes during a ride.

That depth is both a strength and a complication. The Levo 4 rewards riders who spend time setting up its geometry, motor and suspension. Straight out of the box, it can feel like a lot of bike and a lot of power.

The M5 aluminium frame uses mixed wheels, adjustable geometry and 150mm of rear travel. Specialized’s GENIE-equipped Fox Float X shock gives the bike impressive support and helps control bottom-out without making the suspension feel harsh.

The Fox 36 Rhythm fork works well for general trail riding, but it is the component most likely to be exposed by the bike’s 25.7kg weight during harder descending. Riders regularly hitting steep enduro tracks may eventually want the support of a Fox 38 or equivalent.

The Float X Performance Elite rear shock is a strong match for aggressive trail and enduro riding, offering better support and damping control than the entry-level shocks fitted to many full-power bikes.

Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor provides 85Nm on this build and is paired with an 800Wh removable battery. The battery sits in Trek’s RIB 2.0 system, allowing it to be removed for charging or transport without dismantling the motor area.

For comparison, that is close to the weight threshold used in our lightweight guide, yet the Avinox system provides substantially more torque than traditional lightweight motors.

The carbon frame provides 150mm of rear travel, matched by a 160mm Fox 36 Factory fork and Fox Float X Factory shock. The result is a proper enduro-capable chassis rather than a light-duty trail bike built around an attention-grabbing motor.

SRAM X0 Eagle AXS Transmission handles shifting and draws power from the e-bike system, removing the need for a separate derailleur battery. Magura MT7 Pro brakes use four-piston calipers and 203mm rotors at both ends.

The Maxxis Assegai front and Dissector rear combination gives the bike a fast, aggressive trail character. The rear tyre rolls more freely than a Minion DHR II but provides less braking grip in deep mud, making it a sensible three-season setup rather than an ideal UK winter pairing.

The Avinox system also provides a bright integrated display, rapid charging and extensive app connectivity. On paper, it is difficult to argue against.

The main concern is support maturity. Bosch and Shimano have much older and broader dealer networks, while Avinox remains a newer ecosystem. This is improving quickly, but buyers should still confirm their nearest service centre.
