Hunt Enduro V3 rims go on sale separately for wheel repairs and custom builds

Hunt Enduro V3 rims are now being offered separately, giving riders a way to rebuild a damaged wheel or use the alloy rim design with a different hub. Hunt announced the standalone range on 2 September, with a US price of $119 per rim. The company’s UK store lists the 29in and 27.5in rear rims at £118.80 each.

The practical appeal is repairability. A damaged rim does not necessarily mean replacing a serviceable hub, although a rebuild still needs compatible spokes, nipples and a correctly assembled wheel. For riders weighing up where to spend on a bike, that makes this a useful addition to the options in our eMTB upgrades guide.

What is different about the Hunt Enduro V3 rims?

The announcement from Hunt describes three options: a 29in, 28-hole front rim and 32-hole rear rims in 29in and 27.5in. The front uses a wider, shallower profile, while the rear design is deeper. Hunt says the different shapes reflect the different loads and ride characteristics it wants at each end of the bike.

This is the separate sale of an existing rim design, rather than a new generation of complete wheels. That distinction matters for anyone already running Enduro V3s: the news is another route to repair or a custom build, not a reason to discard a functioning wheelset.

UK price and availability

The UK 29in rear-rim listing shows limited stock at £118.80. It specifies a 30mm internal width, 36mm external width, 21mm depth and a claimed 640g weight. The 32-hole rim has a 594.5mm effective rim diameter, the measurement a wheelbuilder needs when calculating spoke length.

The 27.5in rear version has the same listed UK price but is shown out of stock. Its claimed weight is 600g and its effective rim diameter is 556.7mm. Both UK rear-rim specifications call for a three-cross interlaced build; the smaller diameter is relevant to mixed-wheel bikes, but does not make the two rims interchangeable.

What should eMTB owners check before rebuilding?

Start with the wheel that is actually on the bike. The replacement rim needs the right diameter and spoke-hole count, and a wheelbuilder should confirm spoke lengths, nipple compatibility and the condition of the hub. Keeping a hub does not guarantee that the existing spokes can be reused. Add labour and any replacement parts before comparing a rebuild with the price of a complete wheel.

Hunt’s complete Enduro V3 wheelsets use its H_Ratchet XL hubs, which the company rates for modern eMTB motors up to 120Nm. That is a claim about that complete system. Buying one of these rims does not transfer the same rating to an unrelated hub or a differently built wheel. The relevant limits remain those of the finished wheel, tyre and bike.
